Beatitudes of Jesus from Matthew 5
These ancient teachings take on contemporary meaning through the brief pithy statements of Jesus;
…each binds the personal promise of faith to the
imperative of discipleship;
… each calls us to re-examine the implications of
our relationship with God.
To quote class leader Jim McAllister: "The Beatitudes are not 'pie in the sky' hopes of what shall be - nor are they charming prophecies for some future bliss. They were given for those new disciples to better understand what it meant to follow him (Jesus). They have come to be sign-posts for the times in which all disciples of his find themselves living."
Each class is self-contained – you are invited to come once, several times or for the entire series. All materials for the class will be provided by our facilitator, retired minister Jim McAllister. The Adult Sunday Class meets in the Fireside Room at 9:15 Sunday mornings. Please join us.
