Did You Know…

911 Emergency Help

When you call 911 for emergency help from a cell phone your call is routed to the CHP office in Vallejo.  The call takers are often busy and probably not familiar with communities and roads in our area, especially Sonoma County rural back roads.

If you have an emergency it is best to use a landline telephone to make the 911 call.  Your call then goes directly to the local dispatcher for your area.

If you must call for help using a cell phone, it is best to call the direct dial emergency number for the area from which you are calling.  The call taker is more likely to be familiar with your location and better able to direct help.  Emergency numbers for our area are:

            Sebastopol              829-4400 or 824-2434

            Sonoma County            565-2121

            Santa Rosa              528-5222

The call takers at these numbers can route your call to the emergency service you need.  Be prepared to describe your location as accurately as possible.

You may want to write these numbers on a piece of tape and stick them on your cell phone or write them on a card and carry them in your purse or wallet where you can find them quickly in the event of an emergency.
