The Committee for Mission & Outreach will meet on Monday, June 12 at 7 PM in the Fireside Room.
Memorial Day Peace Vigil
Central Laboral de Graton May 7
On Sunday May 7, following the church service, the Mission & Outreach Committee is hosting the steering committee of the Central Laboral de Graton. Working to provide a place for the day laborers to gather and for customers to call and reserve workers with specific skills, has taken much hard work and many years of planning. According to Terry Winter, “We are looking for individuals (especially those with technical skills) to advise us or to work along side of us to complete the work we need to do on the site: fence and deck building, electrical work, landscaping, etc..” They could also use donated or at cost materials. The Community Church has supported many worthwhile building projects and the Graton Labor Hiring Hall is another worthwhile community project. For more information please contact Nancy Mathews-823-0429 or Nancy Dempsey- 823-3970. And please join us on May 7 in the Fireside Room following worship to learn more about the Central Laboral de Graton.
There will be a 10 AM prayer vigil and call for peace in the Middle East on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29 at The Community Church of Sebastopol. Please mark your calendars and take the time to join in this important gathering. Watch for more information in the Sunday bulletin.
Helping Our Service Men & Women From a column in the PD comes a request for school supplies for school children in Iraq. Army Lt. Eric Spencer stationed in Baghdad says that there is a great need for school supplies and he and his unit will deliver to the children what ever supplies are sent. Eric is a graduate of Cardinal Newman High and has made this request through his father, Mike. If you would like to help you may contact Mike at roscoe_max@yahoo.com or ship directly to 1LT Eric Spencer B Co. 3/67 AR, 4ID Unit41503 APO AE 09390-1503 We would also like to start a chain of support for Community Church Members or their relatives and friends in the military. The support would be in the form of letters and packages with good wishes, goodies or items like the request made by LT Eric Spencer. To begin, please provide the address to the church office to be published in the monthly newsletter. With these addresses, our church members, groups, or committees can bring a little bit of the home front to our friends in the military serving far away.
Shoebox
Ministry Thanks go to all of you who participated in our Mitten & Hat Tree and Shoebox Ministry for 2005. We delivered 284 items from our tree – a variety of socks, gloves, scarves, slippers, hats and blankets. And 99 shoeboxes were delivered for those who find themselves without a place to call home this winter. All the men's shoeboxes were delivered to the Homeless Service Center and they distribute them to the homeless shelters in Santa Rosa. The women's and child's shoeboxes were taken to The Living Room, a support center for homeless women and their children. The many hats, scarves, gloves, socks and donated clothing were shared between The Living Room and The Family Support Center. They were all very appreciative of what the members and friends of Community Church have done for them this Christmas season. Thank you for your continued support in our efforts to help those most in need. International Craft Sale in October 1, 2006 in the Church Courtyard We will be having our annual Craft Sale on Sunday, October 1, 2006. Please indicate below which brick(s) you wish to purchase, attach payment, and watch the classroom get built! Please make checks payable to Community Church with a note in the memo line “Nicaragua Bricks.” You may drop your purchase in the collection plate; leave it in the church office or mail to the Community Church of Sebastopol, P.O.
