One of the great Social Activists of the Twentieth Century, the Reverend William Sloane Coffin, was an eloquent preacher. He was Chaplain of Yale University during the chaotic years of the Civil Rights movement and the Vietnam War. When I lived in New Haven I used to sneak out of the Methodist church on Sunday mornings and cross the street to Battell Chapel to hear Bill Coffin. The man could preach! From Yale he went on to Riverside Church in New York. Credo ("I Believe") is a compendium of his thoughts and teachings on a variety of subjects and is highly recommended. Rosemary Manchester
