“KNOW – US – ARK”:
A Listening Process
Beginning in May and lasting until the end of August our church is going to participate in a listening process which we are calling, “Know Us Ark.” Since we are sailing together in this community we call a church, and since the Ark is rapidly becoming a symbol of our church and our life together, this process is an opportunity for us to get to know ourselves – know us – a little better. Through this process we hope to contact every member of our church, deepen relationships in the church, and by listening to each other, begin to develop a shared church vision and direction.
A group of listeners/interviewers has been trained. Each of you will be called by an interviewer to set a time to meet one-on-one. You will be asked to reflect on four questions:
= What do you like about your community?
= What would you change about your community?
= What do you like about our church?
= What would you change about our church?
Again, this process will conclude by the end of August, results of the interviews will be compiled and organized during September, and then on Sunday, October 9th, following worship, we will have an open meeting where the results will be shared.
Please say yes when you are called for your one-on-one meeting. It will only take about a half-hour and we want to hear from everyone. This is a time for looking ahead, for setting new goals and priorities. The listening process is your opportunity to add your voice to our discussions of the future.
