Advent Event!
The word, Advent, comes from a Latin word meaning “coming.” In Advent we await the coming of the One who is Prince of Peace and Light of the World. The Advent season is the four weeks prior to the celebration of Christmas. One might say that it is a countercultural season, because as the world around us gets busier and crazier, Advent invites us to worship, to reflect, to light candles and consider what the coming of the Christ might mean for our lives and how we might prepare ourselves for his coming. So during this season, take some quiet time for Sunday worship, for lighting candles in an Advent wreath, both at the church and in your homes, for singing carols, and for allowing yourselves to feel wonder of the birth at Bethlehem. Mark you calendar and stay for this great annual family event on November 27. Immediately following worship we will meet in Memorial Hall for our Advent workshop. Greens and candles will be available to make your advent wreath; we’ll have other craft projects, and food, too. If you have greens to contribute, bring them by during the week or Sunday morning and leave them near the roses at Memorial Hall. Join us for the Advent Event on November 27 – we will have other crafts, hot cider, hot chocolate, munchies and music! Bring your friends and family and we’ll see you on November 27th!
