Getting to Know...

Ever wonder what others said in the listening project this past summer?  The lady who knows is Joyce Cox.  Joyce has tackled the huge job of categorizing over two hundred responses into understandable trends.  Results will be summarized at the Congregational meeting November 13.

This mountain of detail work is the latest in her history of service to our church.  Joyce currently chairs the Peace and Justice Committee, serves on Mission and Outreach as well as the Listening Project Steering Committee.  After serving as Moderator, she chaired the new 116 sign committee.

Married to Fishery Biologist Bill Cox, Joyce teaches Kindergarten at Wright School in West Santa Rosa.  She has had up to four students at a time who started school with NO English skills –  only one this year!  She and Sara Gerboth helped Cambodian families learn English and assimilate into our culture for many years.

Joyce grew up in San Francisco.  She attended SF City College before transferring to Sonoma State, earning her degree, teaching credential and a Master's Degree in reading.

Joyce taught in Manchester (far northern California) before joining the Wright faculty.  Her mother, Louise Wakefield, was already in Sebastopol when Bill and Joyce moved here.  Joyce joined this congregation in 1980.  We have been blessed with her quiet efficiency these twenty-five years.  Thank you, Joyce!
