Service of Lessons and Carols
You Are Invited!
Dear Church Family,
This year marks the 31st annual Service of Lessons and Carols held on the campus of San Francisco Theological Seminary. Begun in December l975 by Dr. David Esler and Dr. Wilbur Russell, the service followed the pattern and liturgy of the Festival as presented in King’s College Chapel, Cambridge, England. Over the years the liturgy has been modified to include some contemporary musical compositions. However, the basic format of the service has remained unchanged from its rich original mix of selected scripture lessons, Advent hymns and Christmas carols.
Some of our church members have attended and enjoyed this service of Lessons and Carols and plan to return again. This year the program will begin at 7:00 PM on Friday, December. 2nd and 7:00 PM on Saturday, December 3rd. The program usually lasts about an hour. The Seminary Singers will be performing along with readers from several different countries. There is no fee, (donations are accepted) and it is good to arrive early since this event is very popular.

On Saturday, December 3rd, my new roommate from Nebraska and I will host a reception at our apartment after the program. There will also be cookies and hot drinks at Stewart Chapel.
