Creek Walks The Sonoma County Water Agency and the City of Santa Rosa sponsor the Creek Stewardship Program, to explore, learn about and help clean our waterways. CARRILLO ADOBE ON SANTA ROSA CREEK (AGE 10+) Date: Tuesday September 13 Time: 6:00 – 7:30 pm Location: Carrillo Adobe, 2323 Montgomery Dr., two blocks east of Farmers Lane
MATANZAS CREEK CLEAN UP (AGE 8+) Date: Saturday September 17 Time: 9:00 a.m. - noon Location: Doyle Park at the Doyle Park Drive entrance, south off of Sonoma Ave.
DISCOVER THE LAGUNA DE SANTA ROSA (AGE 8+) A hike through Brown Farm with Denise Cadman to learn about the Laguna and the water reuse program. The wetland complex of the Laguna meanders 14 miles from Cotati to Forestville. The uplands, riparian corridor, freshwater marshes and seasonal wetlands provide a home for many fascinating plants and animals. Date: Saturday October 1 Time: 9:30-11:30 a.m. Location: 2200 Llano Road
A CREEK IN YOUR BACKYARD (AGE 12+) A walk designed especially for people who live near creeks. Explore Matanzas Creek to learn about natural creek processes, flooding, erosion control, native plants, storm water pollution, and what you can do on your property to create a healthier creek. Help plant a selection of native riparian plants suitable for you own backyard. Date: Saturday, October 15 Time:9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Location: Doyle Park, parking lot at Doyle Park Drive entrance.
HALLOWEEN ON THE PRINCE MEMORIAL GREENWAY (AGE 3+) Ghouls and ghosts, creatures and super heroes appear in all their splendor for a parade along Santa Rosa Creek. Schools and families are welcome to participate. Don't be afraid to come out for a peek. Date: Monday, October 31 Time: Parade starts at 11:15 a.m. Location: Meet in Julliard Park by the footbridge over the ponds, call 543-3845 for details
