Senior Housing in Sebastopol

Community Involvement

Burbank Heights, Sebastopol's senior housing development, currently has a short waiting list for studio apartments.  Income eligibility for a single person is between $ 13,900 and $ 40,250 per year.  If you are interested, call the office at 823-1361.  Rent is $ 509 or less a month, dependent on income.

Opened in 1975 for seniors in moderate to low-income status, Burbank Heights and Burbank Orchards came about as a joint venture with our church and the Methodist church.  Larry Duffield, Joyce Morrow's father, was one of our volunteers who donated hundreds of hours getting federal funding for the complex that occupies part of the Sebastopol farm where Luther Burbank did his tree experimentation.

These facilities provide 198 apartments.  The complex is overseen by a board of seven volunteers – three Methodists, three from our church and one member-at-large.  Paul Schoch (Methodist) is President and longtime volunteer Mel Davis, from the Community Church, serves as Vice-President.  Nancy Mathews and Elyse Mengle are also members of the board.

Burbank Heights and Orchards are managed by Christian Church Homes with a resident manager and staff.  The sixteen-acre campus is attractively landscaped with some of Burbank's original trees still living.  Occupying the adjacent property along Bodega Avenue is the West Sonoma County's Burbank Farm, where Luther Burbank's legacy is honored.

One of our Listening Project respondents said she liked having "Community" in our church name.  Burbank Heights/Orchards is an example of our ongoing community involvement.
