UCC Conference
Forums for the Future

We had FUN on June 17th in Sacrament at the first of five UCC Forums on the Future, and encourage more Sebastopol Community Church family members to attend the upcoming meetings with UCC folks from all over our Northern California Nevada Conference.  The next forum will be in San Mateo on September 16.

It was a wonderful opportunity to interact with UCC national figures, including Ron Buford who developed the “God is Still Speaking” campaign.  We wanted to share some enthusiasm and some of the thoughts we took away with you.

Beth, Darryl and Alvin

God is in the business of reconciliation and goes to RIDICULOUS lengths to gather us ALL in:  the “churched”, the “unchurched” and the “de-churched”.

As a denomination we are finding ways --- in a theologically vibrant way – to say that as the United Church of Christ:

±     ·We are the church for the stranger.  (Understanding that all of us, whether we have been in this church for minutes or decades, may feel like the “stranger”.)

±     ·We are “literalist-plus”:  our scriptures are sacred and we interpret the scripture in terms of GRACE and also understanding that

±     ·God is ALIVE in history.

Forums scheduled are listed below.  If you would like to attend, please let the church office know so we can make reservations.  Everyone is encouraged to participate.

Forum 2-Youth & Young Adult Ministries, September 16, Congregational Church of San Mateo UCC & Kalavaria UCC
