Memorial & Endowment
If you were in worship on February 26th, you heard, along with some wonderful Dixieland music, the announcement by Paula Berndt and Charlotte Asher, daughters of Jack and Sara Gerboth, of a wonderful bequest from the Gerboth estate. Jack and Sara, always enthusiastic and generous supporters of our church, left the church a gift of over $75,000! Paula and Charlotte made it clear that when Jack and Sara were involved in planning their estate, they wanted the church to be considered as another one of their children. The Gerboths were always faithful to the church and its many programs, but they always felt that with their many responsibilities, they were limited as to what they could do financially. But they also realized that with an estate that was growing in value, they could make a lasting contribution to the life and ministry of our church. And that is exactly what they did! They bless us still.
A growing Memorial and Endowment Fund enables us to do more in ministry, from the purchase of sound and video equipment to a church van to helping fund a mission trip to Nicaragua. This year, over $9000 is available from the Endowment Fund alone to fund new ministries and items that can enhance those ministries. Committees and Organizations in the church are invited to apply to the Memorial and Endowment Committee for funds. Application forms are available in the church office.
