Sunday School Update From Kristen Anderson, Director of Children & Youth Ministries In case you haven’t noticed,
there is a lot of talk around the Count the balloons on Launch Sunday — there will be one balloon for every registered child! The story of the Red Balloon is similar to the goals the Christian Education Committee has established concerning Sunday School and this church. The goal of Sunday School this year is to learn important Biblical stories, while at the same time exploring who we are as children in this church and discovering our place in this church family. There are many ways that we can instill these principles. One very important way is to have every classroom with three teachers who rotate Sundays teaching the children. There will always be at least two teachers in the classroom and thus, one teacher will always be able to enjoy our regular worship services. The benefit is really for the children; as the children will meet, know and learn from three different members of the church and thus discover a greater sense of belonging to our church family. It is a very exciting time in our church for welcoming children in a whole new way and becoming a part of their Christian education! There are many ways in which you can help, and not just in the classroom – check with me, Kristen Anderson, if you are interested and would like to find out more. Also, please feel free to speak with me if at anytime you have questions about our curriculum or Sunday School organization. Children ages 4-11 will worship in the sanctuary through the Children’s Message at which time the teachers will escort the children to their proper classrooms. Parents are welcome to escort their children if they feel more comfortable doing so. Children 3 and under will remain in the nursery. 4-5 year olds Pink The last room in Pilgrim House 1-3 grade Blue The middle classroom in Pilgrim House 4-5 grade Purple Room 4 6th grade Red Meet with Kristen Youth in Junior High and above will remain in church and worship during the regular service. |
