Homeless Count

January 31, 2007

The Homeless Count, mandated by the state, will help secure an accurate count and aid in providing funding for homeless services.  We have the facilities to provide showers and a simple meal for those who choose to participate in the count and need a few volunteers to help with this process.  Homeless participants will go through an interview, use the showers, receive a personal hygiene packet and other items.

As an “Event Center” for the Sebastopol area homeless count on January 31, we want to provide a few basic items to those who may be visiting us for the day.  If you can provide any of the following items, please bring them to the church office before January 29:

            Sleeping bags                                           Backpacks

            Warm jackets                                             Rain gear

Shaving cream & razors                           Towels & washcloths

Soap & shampoo (travel sizes are great)

We are also looking for volunteers for January 31 – if you can help, please sign up in the church office.  Based on the count for Sebastopol two years ago, our site receives a small number of visitors, but with the opening of the Graton Day Labor Center, we may see an increase in visitors and will especially need a few Spanish-speaking volunteers.  The Guerneville site received several hundred visitors at the last count and more volunteers are needed for that site as well.
