Sunday School resumes on September 16, Launch Sunday. I hope all families will join us this day as we meet new and returning teachers and children. This year our Sunday School will be divided into three classes; grades pre-K-1st grade will meet in the West Wing of Pilgrim House. 2nd and 3rd grade will meet in the middle room of Pilgrim House and 4th-5th grade will meet in Room 4. We will continue learning through Godly Play which enables the children to learn from stories and then have time to express those stories through play. During the school year, children are invited to attend the beginning of worship with their parents and then exit with the Sunday School teachers after the children’s message. The Sunday School teachers will walk the children to their appropriate classrooms. Nursery care will be in Room #3 coordinated by Alicia Petersen and Mary Felton. After church, please walk directly to your child’s Sunday School classroom to pick up your child.
Our teachers will also rotate throughout the month and the last Sunday of the month will always be a Fellowship Sunday—a chance for the children to play together with Kristen and special guests. Our first Fellowship Sunday will be September 30. If you would like to volunteer to help with Sunday School, please speak to Kristen or call 823-2484 ext. 14. In September and October the Sunday School classes will learn about the liturgical year and various Hebrew Scripture (Old Testament) stories. These stories include: Creation, Noah’s Ark, Abraham and Sarah, The Exodus and the Ten Commandments. The 4th and 5th grade class has the honor of beginning the year by learning about Communion and then will help set up Communion for October. Look for more details on Launch Sunday!
