Sonoma County Habitat for Humanity

Awarded $25,000 Challenge Grant

The Open Door Challenge Grants are awarded by Habitat for Humanity International’s Church Relations department to local Habitat affiliates that are working successfully to engage support from churches in rural areas.

Sonoma County Habitat for Humanity will match the challenge grant with donations made by local faith communities.  The grant funds must be used toward the construction of a Habitat house by the end of 2007.  The grants were made possible by a gift from an anonymous donor with a goal to increase Habitat’s work in communities, while motivating new supporters and volunteers from churches.

The $25,000 challenge grant will allow Habitat to increase its ability to serve more low-income families in Sonoma County.

Groundbreaking for the first two Sebastopol homes began on May 18 at 384 Johnson Street.  If you would like to participate in the construction process, please call Habitat at 578-7707.
