Deaths
Emil Sokolis, a long-time church member and neighbor of the Community Church passed away in January, 2007. Emil served on numerous church committees and boards and was always available to run over and unlock the church doors at a moments notice. A memorial service was held at the Community Church on January 21, officiated by Rev. Nelson. Our thoughts and prayers are with Helen Sokolis and her family as they mourn Emil’s passing.
On February 5, 2007 Joyce Duffield Morrow died following complications from a fall. Joyce touched many lives with her music and was the organist here at the Community Church for more than 30 years. A memorial service was held at the church on February 19 and included musical selections from the Peace Cantata Joyce composed. Rev. Nelson officiated the service. Blessings to Joyce’s family and friends during this difficult time.
Elsie Harris a long time Sebastopol resident and friend of the Community Church died in February at the age of 98. Rev. Nelson officiated the graveside service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. A reception was held in Memorial Hall at the Community Church. Our prayers are with Elsie’s family.
Margaret Turner, the mother of our office manager Karin Seder, died suddenly on February 20. Some of you may have met Margaret when she helped in the office each month collating the church newsletters. A memorial service was held on February 25. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Turner family.
Birth
Congratulations to Jennifer Evans Rich and Jeremy Rich on the birth of their first child, Joslyn Christine Rich on January 5, 2007. Joslyn weighed 8 lbs at birth and is now home in Oakland with Mom & Dad. Proud grandmother is our own Chris Evans. Blessings and congratulations!
