Adult Education – New Class Starts September 23
A new Adult Education class will begin in September on Spiritual Direction using text developed by Henri Nouwen. The class begins September 23 and will meet through the month of October in the Fireside Room, Sunday mornings at 9:15 AM. The class, lead by John Simmons, will use Nouwen’s book “Spiritual Direction: Wisdom for the Long Walk of Faith.” The book will be available for purchase in the church office after September 1 for $15. Childcare can be arranged for this class, please contact the church office at 823-2484 before September 18.
Henry Nouwen has been one of the most influential leaders in the spiritual movement throughout the world. The internationally renowned author, respected professor and beloved pastor Henri Nouwen wrote over 40 books on the spiritual life. Henri Nouwen spent his life helping people respond to the universal “yearning for love, unity, and communion that doesn’t go away”.
Adult Education Class Begins October 9
Beginning in October, Rev. Nelson will lead a new adult study, Saving Jesus. Much like last year’s Living the Questions study, it will utilize video and group discussion. We will listen to various scholars and church leaders discuss some aspect of Jesus’ life and teaching, and then have the opportunity to share our own reflections.
In recent years, it seems that the Religious Right has captured Jesus for its own social and political agenda. But their view of Jesus is not the only one. This will be an opportunity to discover Jesus all over again.
Beginning Tuesday, October 9th and lasting for eight weeks, we will meet each Tuesday at 7 PM in the Fireside Room. Call the church office at 823-2484 if you need child care or transportation to the church. There will be a nominal fee to cover class materials.

The Adult Education Committee and the Sonoma County Rep share in presenting a special performance of Tuesdays With Morrie, here at the Community Church on Saturday, November 3 at 7 PM. Ticket information will be available soon!
Mitch Albom is lucky. He has the chance to rediscover his mentor, Morrie, his college professor from nearly twenty years ago, in the last months of the older man’s life. Knowing they do not have much time left, Mitch meets with Morrie every Tuesday for one final “class” – a lesson in how to live.
