Look for information coming your way soon with exciting new fund-raising idea as we all work towards funding future building projects. Kathy Matthies found this idea in use at the Santa Rosa UCC church and we were sold on the idea and have adapted it somewhat to fit our local needs.
We are calling the program "Building Fun--Small Events for Big Results" and the idea is to ask folks to offer to put on some sort of event, including bearing the costs, and then we sell tickets to people for a reasonable price to attend this particular event. Small events are, for example, a Halloween Party in your home, a Superbowl Watching Party, a Birthday Party taken to someone else's home or held at the church. Some events already planned include a Scrapbooking Party, a Cioppino Feed, a Mystery Night, a Sunday Brunch taken to your home, and a Christmas Caroling Party.
No event is too small and some events might even be for lots of people each with the opportunity to build fellowship while we grow our building fund. Depending on the event, we could sell tickets on an individual basis or, for something like a birthday party, we could sell the event several times over ...or maybe plan a bridge event and sell "tables."
So can you offer something it can be at your house, another location, or at the church or even some place like Ragle Park or the beach or Armstrong Grove? Or you might offer an afternoon of learning (flower arranging?), or a trip to a museum, or a nature hike or a pool party.
We want to have at least 30 really fun events for people to consider...can you help? Email ideas to the church: office@uccseb.org and even if you can't host the event, maybe we can find someone who take on your event idea.
