Community Church Book Group Sponsored by the Adult Education Committee Book Discussion Groups To Meet During the Day and evening Another Book Discussion Group? Yes! Due to popular demand, a second Book Group will be scheduled for those who prefer a daytime meeting. The same books will be covered in both the evening and daytime book groups, in the same sequence. The Daytime Book Group date and time will be announced soon. Coming up for the daytime book group (date to be announced) the book will be THREE CUPS OF TEA, One Man's Mission to Promote Peace, One School at a Time by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin. This is a true story of Mortenson's quest to build primary schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan. The book is be available in the church office for $10 each. If you want to read ahead, the next book fro the daytime group will be UNBOWED, a memoir by Wangari Maathai, the remarkable woman from Kenya who won the Nobel Prize for planting trees. This book is also available in the church office for $10. More information will be available soon as to the meeting dates and time for this daytime book group meeting in the Fireside Room. The next book to be discussed at the evening Book Group will be the Life of Pi by Yann Martel. This modern classic follows the tale of a sixteen-year-old boy, Pi, after he is shipwrecked and stranded with a hyena, a zebra with a broken leg, a female orangutan and a 450-pound Royal Bengal tiger. This beautiful hard bound book complete with color illustrations is available in the church office for just $10. Date and time of this evening class to be announced. This same book will also be used in the near future for a daytime book group discussion. And still to be re-scheduled, the evening book group with John Simmons and the book The Shack Where Tragedy Confronts Eternity by Wm. Paul Young. The book is on sale in the church office for $10. |
