The next meeting of the Community Church Book Group, sponsored by the Adult Education Committee, will be held in the Fireside Room on Tuesday evening, January 13, at 7 pm. John Simmons will lead the discussion of the book The Shack Where Tragedy Confronts Eternity by Wm. Paul Young. The book is on sale in the church office for $10. Please do your best to read the book before the meeting, as you will find the discussion much more interesting.
A Second Book Discussion Group to begin in March
To Meet During the Day
Another Book Discussion Group? Yes! Due to popular demand, a second Book Group will be scheduled for those who prefer a daytime meeting. The same books will be covered in both the evening and daytime book groups, in the same sequence. The Daytime Book Group will begin in March. The date and time will be announced in the February Newsletter.
The book for March will be THREE CUPS OF TEA, One Man's Mission to Promote Peace, One School at a Time by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin. This is a true story of Mortenson's quest to build primary schools in Pakistan and Afghanistan. The book will be available in the church office in January for $10 each.
If you want to read ahead, the next book for the April meeting will be UNBOWED, a memoir by Wangari Maathai, the remarkable woman from Kenya who won the Nobel Prize for planting trees. This book will also be available in the church office later in January.
