From the Associate Pastor

Summer is in the air!  The weather has turned warm, roses are in bloom and with it comes a new sense of busyness into our lives.  For those with young children, there are baseball games (that last 2 hours!), open houses, field trips, summer camp forms and the end of school.  I, personally, have been so busy that I haven’t had time for my afternoon naps let alone time to stop and smell the beautiful roses!  For those of us without young children to take care of, there is a whole other list of things keeping us busy; families coming to visit, planning vacations, the end of deadlines at work, school getting out, etc. It’s almost as if we are busier now than during Christmas!  I feel as if our lives have been slowly puttering up hill and all of a sudden we have crested the top and we are barreling down without any breaks!

But breaks are what we need.  In this time of frenzy, I can’t help but turn to scripture to find comfort.  Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God!”  Be still and know that I am God.  Let us use this time, wherever we are reading this, parked in the car, in our home, waiting for our children to be dismissed from school, to be still and know that God is with us.  Let us take a moment, take a deep breath and actually breathe.  Let us find a minute out of our busy day and be still, knowing that God is with us no matter what is happening in our lives.

Summer is in the air!  Summer doesn’t have to be a time when we skate so fast that we miss all the glorious creations that God has made.  Let this summer be a time when we can find moments to stop and smell the roses.
