Adult Education 2009 Class

Education Opportunities During Lent

Sunday Mornings: Beginning March 1st, Rev. Nelson will lead a morning class at 9:15 in the Fireside Room.  The basic theme will be “Does God Require Blood?”  We will look at Holy Week, particularly the crucifixion and resurrection, through the eyes of scholars Marcus Borg and N.T. Wright.  They represent very different points of view.  Their book – The Meaning of Jesus: Two Visions – will be available for purchase in the church office by mid February for $11.50.

And check out the new Community Church Book Group also sponsored by Adult Education.

A NEW BOOK IN THE LIBRARY

Pamela Ammondson has donated to the church library a copy of her book, CLARITY QUEST: How to Take a Sabbatical Without Taking More Than a Week Off.  The book is published by Simon and Schuster, and is also available in bookstores for those who would like to purchase their own copy.

From the introduction:  "If you are stressed out, burned out, or simply out of energy and fresh ides, this book will show you how to recharge your batteries, assess what's genuinely important in your life, and rediscover who you are and what you really want."

Pamela works with Fortune 500 and start-up companies as well as individuals.  Her book is a welcome addition to the library.

The Adult Education Committee has been working towards cataloguing the church library – a big job and a process that Linda McBride has been helping with.  The books need to be removed from the shelves, scanned and then re-shelved in the correct location.

Maybe you have a few hours here and there to help with this project – times can be arranged to suit your schedule.  Please call Linda McBride or the church office if you can help.
