Make a Difference in the Lives of Children Become a Children’s Village Grandparent
The Children’s Village of Sonoma County provides nurturing, stable family homes in a multi-generational enriched environment for children and sibling groups in foster care.
The Children’s Village of Sonoma County is seeking three 'surrogate' grandparents to join their community and volunteer part time with foster children and their siblings, ages 6-15. The Santa Rosa based non-profit cares for children in a community setting. Village grandparents: · Live on-site in new, separate apartments with reasonable rent. · Share time and activities with the children and are involved with the family units and village parents. The Children’s Village, located at 1321 Kawana Terrace Road., Santa Rosa, is a busy place. Opened in August, 2006, this unique model of foster care in California provides stable, family homes, keeps siblings together, has surrogate grandparents living on-site, and provides support services for the children and staff. In four homes and a grandparents’ triplex, a community of 23 children including seven sibling groups is thriving. The children range in ages between five and seventeen. Another triplex is being constructed in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity to accommodate three additional grandparents. Four more homes which will accommodate another 24 children, primarily sibling groups, are planned for the future. Make a difference in the lives of children.
