Book Discussion Groups - Pick up your reading material now!
The format for the Afternoon and Evening Book Groups will be slightly different when we resume meeting in October.
Instead of asking you to buy the books, we will use the special Book Group service of the Sonoma County Public Library. The Library offers a selection of books to reading groups in the community, by special arrangement. Here's how it works:
Rosemary Manchester, who coordinates the Book Groups, will work with the Reference Librarian in the Sebastopol Library. The County Library keeps multiple copies of certain books, and Rosemary will select a book each month from the list of available books. Copies of the book will be sent to the Sebastopol Library and made available the first of each month.
Watch for the name of the current book to be announced in the church newsletter and Sunday bulletin. If the book is one you would like to read and discuss, go to the Sebastopol Public Library to check it out.
· Go to the desk of the REFERENCE LIBRARIAN.
· Identify yourself as a member of the Community Church Book Group and she will give you a copy of the book.
· Don't forget to stop at the Circulation Desk to check it out.
Here is the current reading schedule:
1. 15 copies of The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, a novel by Carson McCullers, available now at the Reference Desk at the Sebastopol Library.
2. You, the reader, pick up a copy at the Reference Desk, check it out at the Circulation Desk. You have a whole month to read the book.
3. The Evening Group and Afternoon Group will meet on Tuesdays in October, dates to announced soon.
Everyone is welcome at these meetings, men and women, young and old. Invite your friends!
