Planning for 2010 Faith Journey & Soup Suppers

Adult Education 2009 Class

Rev. Nelson Leads Class on Paul

Beginning, Sunday, January 10th, Rev. Nelson will lead a four-week class on the Apostle Paul.  The class will meet at 9:15 A.M. each Sunday in the Fireside Room, and will use the book The First Paul, by Marcus Borg and John Dominic Crossan as a text.  Was Paul a radical and mystical visionary or a conservative icon?  Do we find him appealing or appalling?  Just what was at the heart of his message?  Join Rev. Nelson and the class as we meet Paul again for the first time.

The book can be ordered for the class (although it is not required) by contacting Karin in the church office.  The book is currently only available in hardback for a cost of $16.50.

And check out the Community Church Book Group also sponsored by Adult Education.

Adult Education also sponsors the Lenten Faith Journey & Soup Supper starting February 21.

A NEW BOOK IN THE LIBRARY

Pamela Ammondson has donated to the church library a copy of her book, CLARITY QUEST: How to Take a Sabbatical Without Taking More Than a Week Off.  The book is published by Simon and Schuster, and is also available in bookstores for those who would like to purchase their own copy.

From the introduction:  "If you are stressed out, burned out, or simply out of energy and fresh ides, this book will show you how to recharge your batteries, assess what's genuinely important in your life, and rediscover who you are and what you really want."

Pamela works with Fortune 500 and start-up companies as well as individuals.  Her book is a welcome addition to the library.

The Adult Education Committee has been working towards cataloguing the church library – a big job and a process that Linda McBride has been helping with.  The books need to be removed from the shelves, scanned and then re-shelved in the correct location.

Maybe you have a few hours here and there to help with this project – times can be arranged to suit your schedule.  Please call Linda McBride or the church office if you can help.
