Holy Week
March 28 Palm Sunday 10:30 AM
On this day we recall Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem with a festive service featuring a palm processional and with chancel and brass choirs providing special Palm Sunday music. Rev. Nelson will preach on the theme, “Jesus Makes His Move” and palm crosses will be distributed following worship. Participants in our high school mission trip to Portland will be commissioned.
April 1 Maundy Thursday 6:30 PM
This year we will remember Jesus’ last night and last supper with his disciples with a little different service. At 6:30 PM we will gather around tables in Fellowship Hall. We will share a simple candlelight soup supper and then remain in Fellowship Hall for worship and communion as the story of that night in the upper room is told. The Chancel Choir will sing.
April 2 Good Friday 7 PM
Again this year, we will share an evening Good Friday service. The service begin at 7 P.M. and will conclude with the moving service of Tenebrae – the extinguishing of the lights – as the story of Jesus’ betrayal, arrest and crucifixion is told. The location for this service will be announced.
April 4 Easter Sunday
This year we will once again celebrate the festival of resurrection with three distinctive services:
6:30 AM – Sunrise Service in Ragle Park. Members of our folk/acoustic group along with the Rev. Brian Plaugher will lead this informal service as we gather to greet a new Easter Day. Please park outside the Ragle Park gate and walk in to the Peace Garden.
9:00 AM – A Jazz Easter Our church jazz group leads the music as we celebrate Easter to a little different beat. Join us for an upbeat Easter as Rev. Nelson preaches on the theme, “Through Closed Doors.”
11:00 AM – Classic Easter This more “traditional” Easter service will feature the Chancel, Handbell and Brass choirs and the singing of the “Hallelujah” chorus. Rev. Nelson will preach on the theme, “Emmaus Always Happens.”
